The heads of Latvia’s diplomatic missions and representations to international organisations, as well as Latvian ambassadors residing in Riga will convene for their annual meeting in Riga from 25 October to 27 October.
The meeting will focus on the role of the Foreign Service in the promotion of economic development. The ambassadors will have an opportunity for discussing current issues with a number of businessmen and public officials. The meeting will also include an exchange of views on current developments in foreign and security policy and Latvia’s priorities in these areas, and the role of diplomatic missions in preparation for Latvia’s centenary celebrations.
The Ambassadors are to meet with President Raimonds Vējonis; Ināra Mūrniece, the Speaker of the Saeima; Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis; Arvils Ašeradens, Minister of Economy; Jānis Dūklavs, Minister of Agriculture; Dace Melbārde, Minister of Culture; Jānis Garisons, State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence; and other officials.
The meeting of the heads of Latvian diplomatic missions is an annual event at which the priorities and current tasks for the Foreign Service are discussed. This year, the meeting will bring together the heads of Latvia’s diplomatic missions, several Latvian Ambassadors residing in Riga, the Foreign Ministry staff and foreign affairs advisors to Latvia’s highest ranking officials.
