Today, on 1July, the Instrument of Accession of Latvia to the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development was deposited with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the French Republic. In accordance with Article 16 of the OECD Convention, as from this date, Latvia is a full-fledged Member of the OECD.

The French Government, the depositary of the OECD Convention, will now inform the OECD Member States regarding this fact, and the date of Latvia’s accession to the Organisation will be noted in a Resolution of the OECD Council.

As previously announced, on 2 June in Paris, Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis and Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, signed the Agreement on Accession of Latvia to the OECD. Following that, on 16 June, the Saeima approved the law “On the 14 December 1960 Convention on the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the Agreement on the Terms of Accession of the Republic of Latvia to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development”, which entered into force on 30 June.
