On July 6, in Vilnius, upon invitation by Gediminas Kirkilas, Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, a meeting of Aigars Kalvītis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, Andrus Ansip, Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia, and the Lithuanian Prime Minister was held in order to discuss the issues related to the construction project of Ignalina nuclear power plant. The sides acknowledged the fact the Lithuanian Parliament has passed a law on a new NPP of the Baltic States and Poland which will be based on the current NPP in Ignalina; this law was an essential pre-condition for Lithuania to move further. The Heads of Governments assigned the energy companies to further negotiate the establishment of a company which would implement the project, as well as other company management issues in order to stipulate protection of the rights is minor shareholders, decision making procedures and other associated matters. | |||||
