Guwahati International Film Festival, first ever international film festival to be held in Northeast India, was officially inaugurated on 28 October. Latvia is represented by director Renars Vimba’s internationally acclaimed film “Mellow Mud”. Accepting the kind invitation of the organisers and the Embassy of Latvia in India, film’s producer Aija Bērziņa has come all the way from Latvia to be present at the event.
H.E. Mr. Aivars Groza, Ambassador of Latvia to India, has congratulated the Festival and wished it a lot of success.
Festival is being held from 28 October to 2nd November. In total 75 films from 35 countries, including from France, Luxembourg, Iran, Czech Republic, Spain, Estonia and Greece will be screened. Organisers of the Festival have expressed hope that the Festival will become an annual event in Assam and will gather film makers and cinema lovers from all around the world.
