A joint art exhibition by members of the External Affairs Spouses Association (EASA) and Spouses of Heads of Mission (SHoM) “India and the World – A Friendship through Art” was inaugurated on 13 May by General V.K.Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs. The exhibition displays a wide range of paintings, sculptures, photos, painted porcelain and other art objects. Authors of the works are both professionals and those who enjoy art as a hobby.
Mrs. Sandra Groza, spouse of H.E. Mr. Aivars Groza, Ambassador of Latvia to India, also took part in the exhibition. In order to introduce the audience to the Latvian tradition of Easter egg painting she displayed her collection of painted Easter eggs. Egg painting is Mrs Groza’s hobby for several years as the result of which she has become the author of a beautiful and vast collection of Easter eggs. She has mostly painted eggs as a pastime or to make a special gift to close relatives and friends. This is the first time her work has been displayed in public. Strong impressions and inspiration from India have influenced her latest collection. Her work created a lively interest by the audience in the Latvian Easter traditions.
Exhibition at the Banquet Hall, Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, will remain open until Friday, 19 May.
