Joint Latvia-Russia Demarcation Commission to hold its first session [21 Sep 2009]

On 23 September, the first session of the Joint Latvia-Russia Demarcation Commission (the Commission) will be held in Daugavpils. The Commission was set up in accordance with Article 5 of the Treaty between the Republic of Latvia and the Russian Federation on the State Border of Latvia and Russia, providing that the Parties to the Treaty shall form a Joint Demarcation Commission, based on the parity principle. The task of the Commission is to mark the Latvia-Russia border on the ground. Read more

Third meeting of Latvia and Russia Intergovernmental Commission to be held on 29 July in Riga [24 Jul 2009]

On 29 July in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Latvia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on co-operation in the economic, research and technological, humanitarian and cultural field will convene for its third meeting, as agreed on 25 June in St. Petersburg by co-chairmen of the IGC – the Minister of Economy of Latvia, Artis Kampars, and the Minister of Transport of Russia, Igor Levitin. Third meeting of Latvia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission to be held on 29 July in Riga [25 Jun 2009]

On 25 June, Co-chairmen of the Latvia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) – the Minister of Economy of Latvia, Artis Kampars, and the Minister of Transport of Russia, Igor Levitin, agreed on the organisation of the third IGC meeting on 29 July in Riga. Read more

Foreign Minister expresses condolences regarding tragic fire in Russia [01 Feb 2009]

Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins in a letter of condolence to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, has offered his deepest sympathy and expressed words of support to families of those who have died and suffered injuries in the fire at an old people's home in the Kortkerossky District, Republic of Komi. Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins conveys condolences to Russian Foreign Minister concerning a tragic coach crash [17 Dec 2008]

On 17 December, Minister for Foreign Affairs Maris Riekstins sent a letter of condolence to the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, regarding the tragic coach crash which occurred in Israel, causing deaths of some thirty tourists from Russia. Read more
