Persons who utilise as a travel document:

  • a United Nations passport;
  • a European Commission passport;
  • a Vatican passport

may enter Latvia without a visa and stay  no more than 90 days in any 180-day period.

Countries whose holders of diplomatic passports may enter member states of the European Union without a visa, and stay in their territory no more than 90 days in any 180-day period.

Countries whose holders of diplomatic, service, and special passports may enter Latvia without a visa, and stay in its territory for a period of up to 90 days in a half-year, counting from the first date of entry, in accordance with bilateral treaties between Latvia and said third countries

  • Armenia (holders of diplomatic and service passports)
  • Brazil (holders of diplomatic, service, and special passports)  
  • Georgia (holders of service passports)
  • Mongolia (holders of diplomatic, service and official passports)
  • Turkey (holders of diplomatic, service, and special passports)
  • Peru (holders of diplomatic and service passports)
  • Ukraine (holders of service passports)
  • !!! Please note that foreigners entering and residing in the Republic of Latvia must have a valid health insurance policy, which guarantees the covering of expenses related to health care in the Republic of Latvia, including the transportation back to the country of residence in the case of serious illness.

This requirement does not apply to:

  • holders of diplomatic and service (official) passports;
  • to citizens of the European Union member states and their family members, if they wish to reside in Latvia for a period up to 90 days, as well as in cases when the intended stay is more than 90 days and the citizen’s stay is related to employment, self-employment or providing services.
